7. Chicken (½-kg)

For Frying chicken

8. Onions (½ cup)

9. 1 bay leaf

10. 3 green cardamoms

11. 5 cloves

12. Inch Cinnamon piece (1-inch)

13. ½ spoon jeera

For preparing biryani

14.  Plain yoghurt (½ cup)

15. Garam masala (½ tablespoon)

16. Green chillies (2 chopped)

17. Mint leaves (sliced)


1.  Add the above-mentioned ingredients (yoghurt, garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, gram masala, turmeric). Apply this paste to the chicken for one hour.

2.  Take a bowl and rinse the rice well. Boil the rice until the seeds are half boiled on low flame. Add a pinch of salt as well.

3.  Take a pot, put 4 spoons of cooking oil, add onions, bay leaf, green cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and jeera. Fry the mixture until the onion slices change its colour.

4. Add the marinated chicken into the above mixture. Fry it until the chicken changes its colour. Cook the chicken on medium flame until it becomes soft and tender.

5. Once the chicken is fried, add yoghurt, gram masala and green chillies

6. Mix everything well. Take some chicken curry out of the pot. Set the rest of chicken in a fine layer.

7.  Add boiled rice into the pot by forming the layer. After forming the rice layer, add remaining chicken and then rice again.

8. Cover the pot for 5-6 minutes. You can sprinkle fried onions, mint leaves and yellow food colour to your biryani as well.

Peas pulao


1. Rice (1.5 cup rinsed)

2. Green peas (½-1 cup)

3. Onions chopped (½ cup)

4. Medium-sized onion

5. Ginger garlic paste (3/4 tablespoon)

6. 2 green chillies

7. Edible oil (4 spoons)

8. Cloves (5)

9. Cinnamon (1inch)

10. Mace (1 strand)

11. Cumin seeds (½ tablespoon)


1. Take another pot, add edible oil, onions, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, mace and cumin seeds

2. Fry onions to light brown shade.

3. Now add green chillies to the mixture.

4. Fry it for two minutes and then add ginger garlic paste.

5. Saute the mixture on low flame until you feel the nice aroma of the mixture.

6. Add green peas into the mixture now. Let the peas get soft for two minutes

7. Now add drained rice into the pot and mix them well.

8. Now add ¾ tablespoon salt and 2 ½ cups of water.

9. Cover the pot until the water dried and rice is cooked.

10. Remove the cover after 15 minutes and check if the rice is properly cooked.

11. Dish out the rice and serve it.

Daal Khichdi

8. Red chilli powder (¾ tablespoon)

2. Add cumin seeds into the ghee. Let the cumin seeds get fry for two minutes on medium flame.

3. Add onion into the cumin ghee mixture. Fry the mixture.

4. Now add tomatoes and green chillies into the saucepan. Stir the mixture and let tomato slices get meshed into the mixture. Add red chilli powder, turmeric and salt as well.

5.  Add the daal into the mixture and fry it for 5-6 minutes.

6.  Now add rinsed rice into the saucepan. Mix the rice with mixture properly.

7.  Add 4-6 cups of water into the mixture and cover it for 20 minutes. Keep the flame low to medium

8.  Check if the dish is ready and serve it hot.
